Method
The Dough
- Mix together warm water, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar in a bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and leave in a warm place for 10 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, egg, buttermilk, butter, and the rest of the sugar to a large mixing bowl. Form into a slightly sticky dough. Knead for 10 minutes.
- Cover bowl with a damp cloth and leave in a warm place for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Cinnamon Mixture
- Melt the butter and whisk with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour the mixture onto a plate.
- Grease your loaf pan by running a stick of butter along the bottom and sides.
- Make 4 cuts in the top of the dough. Roll the dough in the cinnamon mixture, thoroughly coating it. Put in the loaf pan.
- Bake at 340 F for 40 minutes, on the lowest rung of the oven. Take out at the 15 and 30 minute marks and brush the top with more of the cinnamon mixture.
The Glaze
- Warm milk in a small pot on the stove. Add butter and sugar, whisk until homogeneous. Pour over warm bread or use as a dipping sauce. Enjoy!
